A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Founding and Early Years

St. Aloysius English Higher Primary School was established in 1898 by foreign missionaries at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, aiming to provide a robust educational foundation in a faith-centered environment. Over the decades, the school has grown and evolved, marking its place as a cherished institution in Bangalore.

Transition to High School and New Beginnings

In 1941, the school was elevated to high school status by Rev. Fr. Browne, who also oversaw the acquisition of the current campus at Cox Town. This significant step paved the way for the school’s expansion and future development.

Building the Present Campus

Rev. Fr. Stan F. Aranjo took over as principal in 1946. Under his leadership, the construction of the granite structure we see today was completed in 1947. The building was blessed by His Grace, The Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Pothakamuri, and officially inaugurated by Sir M. Ramaswamy Mudaliar, Dewan of the Mysore State, in a ceremony that underscored the school’s commitment to excellence in education.
